Abstract:
According to the damage characteristics of conventional CL60 wheels used in heavy-haul railways in China,two new materials CL65 and CL70 were designed by using the technical idea of high C and high Si alloying. The chemical composition and phase transformation characteristics of CL65, CL70 and CL60 wheels were analyzed. By a series of industrial tests and wheels dissection, the differences of the mechanical property, microstructure, friction and wear property of the three materials’ wheels were analyzed. The results show that the comprehensive performance of CL65 and CL70 heavy-haul wheels with new material is obviously superior to that of conventional CL60 wheels in all aspects. They have better loading and service performance, which are more suitable for heavy-haul freight railway transportation in China.
