Abstract:
The nanocrystalline copper coating with the grain size of 10nm were prepared by pulsed eletctrodeposition. The tribological studies were carried out using a ball-on-disc tribometer. The influences of GCr15 and ZrO
2 counterpart material on the tribological behaviors of nanocrystalline copper were investigated. SEM was used to observe the morphologies of the wear marks, wear debris and ball counterparts. The oxygen content of the wear debris was analyzed by EDS. By these analyses, the wear mechanism of two friction pairs was explained. The results show that the coefficient of friction of GCr15/Cu is higher with large fluctuation. The wear mechanism is mainly adhesive wear and fatigue wear, which can lead to the high wear rate of GCr15/Cu.ZrO
2/Cu, with a lower and more stable coefficient of friction, and the wear mechanism is mainly dominated by slight fatigue wear, which can lead to a lower wear rate.
