Abstract:
The characteristics of droplet transition of a stainless steel twisted wire with diameter of 1.6 mm were observed by using high speed camera method. The test results show that with the increase of welding specification, the droplet transition mode of the stainless steel twisted wire presents short circuit transition, mixed transition, projected transfer and jet transition in turn.Through comparaing various droplet transition characteristics, it is found that electric explosion is the main cause of welding spatter in short circuit transition and mixed transition, while the welding spatter in jet transition is mainly caused by the collision of multiple droplets.Projected transfer is the main mode of droplet transition of stainless steel twisted wire, the transition frequency is about 100 times/s and no spatter is observed.
