Abstract:
The metal/polymer composite structure has become the new solution for lightweight design. The friction spot welding test of AA6060 Al alloy and thermoplastic polyimide(TPI) were carried out, and the effect of the rotational speed and plunge depth on the microstructure and tensile-shear force of the composite structure were studied. The results show that the AA6061 Al alloy and TPI sheet are successfully joined via friction spot welding technology. The transition layer embedded with each other exists at the AA6061/TPI interface. High rotational speed and large plunge depth are useful to the increase of tensile-shear force of the joint. The fracture is located at the AA6061/TPI interface, and the failure mode tends to ductile fracture.
