Abstract:
Porous Ti-5Cu alloys were fabricated by using spherical stearic acid as space holder agent, and the effects of different stearic acid addition(10%-50%) on the microstructure and mechanical properties of porous Ti-5Cu alloy were investigated. The results show that porous Ti-5Cu alloy with anisotropic pore structure simulating human bone is prepared with spherical stearic acid as space holder agent. When the amount of stearic acid increases, the porosity and pore interconnectivity of as-prepared porous Ti-5Cu alloy increase gradually, and their elastic modulus and compressive strength decrease gradually, but its addition has no effect on the phase composition of porous Ti-5Cu alloy. The pore characteristics and mechanical properties of porous Ti-5Cu alloy prepared in the study meet the basic requirements of orthopedic implant materials.
