Abstract:
In order to study the influence of welding surface shape and its contact angle on continuous drive friction welding, the finite element software ABAQUS and its secondary development function were used to simulate the large diameter D50Re steel under plane-plane(A), cone(top)-plane(B), frustum of a cone(top)-plane(C) three kinds of joints and different taper angles. Compared with the A joint, the other two joints produce higher temperature and equivalent plastic strain(PEEQ) with better uniformity, and the torque shows many peak torque, which is smaller than that of the A joint. The shape of the welding surface and its contact angle have an important influence on the continuous drive friction welding, and proper angle can achieve high-quality welding.
