Abstract:
Aluminium/copper (Al/Cu) dissimilar metals welded components can benefit from the properties of each material,reduce their cost and weight,improve economic performance and provide more options for product design and manufacturing. Therefore,it has broad applications in the power and electronics fields,new electric vehicles and so on.However,due to large differences in thermal physical properties between aluminium and copper,it is difficult to achieve high quality of welding between aluminium and copper. As a solid phase welding method with the advantages of low heat input and high joint quality,friction stir welding (FSW) has become one of the preferred welding methods for aluminium/copper dissimilar metals. The research progress on the fields of Al/Cu dissimilar metals friction stir welding process,the control of joint microstructure and properties,the modification of conventional FSW were firstly comprehensively reviewed. Then,the issues should be focused in the future were discussed. The purpose was to clarify the welding mechanism,technical difficulties and solutions of Al/Cu dissimilar metals friction stir welding,to lay a solid foundation for optimizing and controlling the Al/Cu dissimilar metals friction stir welding and to further promote the application of friction stir welding process in the manufacturing of the Al/Cu dissimilar metals welded components.
