Abstract:
Argon tungsten-arc welding process was used to weld the 0.6 mm thick 304 stainless steel sheet. The effect of misalignment value on the properties of the edge joint was studied. Ideal welding parameters were obtained in the state without align deviation, and the joints with different align deviation values were welded by using the ideal welding parameters. The surface morphology and cross-section morphology of the welded joints were analyzed, and the microhardness, mechanical properties, fracture morphology and metallographic structure of the joints were tested. The results show that when the align deviation value is less than or equal to 1.5 mm under the current of 28 A, welding speed of 5.3 mm/s, the tungsten electrode distance of 2 mm, the weld surface is well formed. The strength of the welded joint is lower than that of the base metal, and it is mainly broken at the weld near the fusion line. The tensile force of the joints with different misalignment values is 4.06-4.17 kN, which is about 80% of tensile force(5.17 kN) of the base metal. The influence of misalignment on the joint strength is not obvious. The hardness of the weld zone and heat affected zone of the joints is higher than that of base metal. The misalignment value has no obvious effect on the metallographic structure.
