Abstract:
Mg-11.1Gd-1.8Y-0.4Ag-0.5Zr(wt%) alloy was deformed by multi-direction forging, and the microstructure and mechanical properties of the alloy after multi-direction forging were studied. The results show that the number of coarse crystals and twins decreases from the edge to the center of the alloy along the last forging direction, the recrystallization volume fraction increases, the average grain size decreases and the grain refinement degree increases, and the compressive yield strength of the alloy gradually increases, and the maximum compressive strength and compression ratio decrease first and then increase. The variation of compressive strength and compression ratio is not only affected by the grain size, but also related to the coordinated deformation ability of the bimodal-structure of the alloy.
