Abstract:
In order to prepare titanium-copper alloy orthopedic implants that match human bones, laser powder bed fusion technology was used to in situ modify commercial TC4 powder mixed with 5 wt% Cu powder, so that it has excellent biological antibacterial properties. Three-period minimum surface structure TC4-5 Cu samples of three kinds of Gyroid,Diamond and Primitive with porosity of 70% were prepared. The elastic modulus and antibacterial properties of porous implants were analyzed by static load compression test and bacterial culture test. The results show that the elastic modulus values of the three structures are between 3.46-4.65 GPa, which are all higher than the elastic modulus of common orthopedic implants range(3-30 GPa). In addition, the antibacterial rate of TC4-5 Cu alloy material against Staphylococcus aureus(ATCC 6538) reaches 99.7%, showing excellent antibacterial properties. It meets the preparation needs of titanium-copper alloy structure implants under the requirements of specific modulus and antibacterial conditions.
