Abstract:
High-manganese steel has become the preferred material for high-speed and heavy-duty railroad frog because of its high plastic toughness and work-hardening ability, but the material fails seriously in the areas of strong impacts and high abrasion, such as the point rail and wing rail of the frogs. Therefore, maraging steel with higher strength and hardness was combined with high manganese steel by welding, and replaced by maraging steel in locations subject to high impact and high wear. High manganese steel and three different compositions of maraging steel were welded, characterization and experiments were carried out on the microstructure, hardness trend and joint strength of martensitic aging steel, high manganese steel and its interface with welded joints. The results show that the welding material with strength of welded joints more than 500 MPa, which can provide theoretical basis for the application of maraging steel in the frog point rail and wing rail
