Abstract:
The corrosion behavior of pure zinc and zinc clad steel in Tianjin saline-alkaline soil for 20 d was investigated. The corrosion kinetics of pure zinc and zinc clad steel in different states were determined by using the mass loss method. The macroscopic morphology, microscopic morphology and composition of corrosion products on the sample surface were analyzed using XTT stereomicroscope, SEM and XRD, respectively. After 20 d of indoor accelerated corrosion, both pure zinc and zinc clad steel surfaces are mainly composed of ZnO, accompanied by some Zn(OH)
2 corrosion products. The corrosion rate of pure zinc from highest to lowest is as follows: cast zinc rod, zinc wire, once hot extruded zinc rod, twice hot extruded zinc rod. The corrosion rate of zinc clad steel from highest to lowest is as follows: extrusion coated zinc clad steel and hot extruded zinc clad steel. The galvanic effect γ of the zinc clad steel is 1.398 for extrusion coated zinc clad steel and 2.671 for hot extruded zinc clad steel. Plastic processing effectively improves the corrosion resistance of both pure zinc and zinc clad steel in Tianjin saline-alkaline soil.
