Effect of Laser Power on Welding Process of Low-current

Abstract: When MIG welding is used for aluminum alloy thin plate, high current leads to burn-through and serious deformation, while low current has the problem of not being able to melt through the base material, etc. A low-power laser was added to the MIG welding, and the effect of different laser power on the low-current MIG welding of aluminum alloy thin plate was studied. A laser - MIG hybrid welding system was built, the welding voltage, current signals during hybrid welding process were collected through the data acquisition card, and the molten droplet transfer image information under different laser powers were captured with a high-speed camera for analysis. The study shows that when the laser power is 300 W, the melten droplet transfer and welding process are stable, the weld is well formed, and the welding quality is significantly improved.
