Abstract:
Refractory metals and their alloys were widely applied in aerospace, energy and chemical, national defense and other strategic pillar industry due to their excellent high-temperature strength, good processing plasticity and corrosion resistance. With the rapid development of advanced equipment manufacturing industry, high temperature structural materials represented by refractory metals and their alloys also play an increasingly important role. However, the rare reserves and complex chemical compositions of refractory metals limit their large scale engineering application. Therefore, purifying and recycling refractory metals by melting technology has a positive effect on expanding the application of refractory metal materials. The main properties and processing technologies of the refractory metals were introduced firstly, then the research status of high purity refractory metals and their alloys prepared by melting technology were described, including vacuum arc melting, electron beam melting, vacuum induction melting and plasma melting. Finally, the future development directions about refractory metals and their alloys were prospected.
