Abstract: Strip casting and planar flow casting are representative rapid solidification processes for steel near-net shape manufacturing technology, and the interfacial wetting behavior between molten metal and the copper substrate is a key factor in determining the solidification effect and the quality of formed strips. The sessile drop method and dispensed drop method are the main experimental methods in studying the metal/copper wetting systems, and the dispensed drop method and immersive technology are well applied to simulate the sub-rapid solidification and heat transfer in strip casting process. The research progress on the effects of key process factors such as the melt composition, temperature, atmosphere and substrate surface conditions were reviewed, as well as surface deposition films and other process methods on the wettability between the molten metal and the copper substrate, which can provide technical references for optimizing the rapid solidification process parameters and improving the quality of the formed strips.
