Effects of Heat-treatment Technique on Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of Fe-Si-Mn-Cr Low-alloy Wear-resistant Steel

    • Four different heat-treatment techniques were conducted for Fe-Si-Mn-Cr low-alloy wear-resistant steel. The effects of different heat treatment processes on the microstructure and mechanical properties of wear-resistant steel were studied by microstructure observation, hardness test, impact performance test and impact fracture analysis system. The results show that the wear-resistant steel is composed of ferrite and pearlite, which can transform to martensite, bainite and M/A islands after the heat treatments of quenching/normalizing+tempering.Under the heat treatments of quenching at 910 ℃and normalizing followed by tempering at 250 ℃, the low-alloy wear-resistant steel shows relatively better matching between hardness and toughness. The hardness and impacting toughness of 47.2 HRC+26.2 J/cm2 and 41.6 HRC+57.2 J/cm2 are obtained, respectively.
