Abstract
Thin walled complex metal cross-section rings are key sealing components in high-tech fields such as aerospace and petrochemical industry, and superalloy W-shaped sealing rings are one of the typical representatives. Multi-pass rolling forming is one of the main methods for manufacturing this kind of sealing ring. However, the rolling process is a complex multi-parameter coupling unsteady nonlinear instantaneous dynamic process. If the process parameters are not proper in the rolling process, the uneven deformation is produced and uncoordinated, which leads to wrinkling, ellipse, and that seriously affects the improvement of its forming quality. The relevant research progress in China and foreign countries was analyzed. The occurrence and development mechanisms of forming defects such as diameter expansion, wrinkling and ovality during multi-pass rolling forming processes were reviewed. The key scientific problems to be solved and the future research points of the complex cross-section ring rolling forming of superalloys were prospected.
